While the average lifespan of a basketball is 3-5 years and synthetic rubber can prove difficult to decompose, Ol' Dirty Planters fosters sustainability by up cycling new basketballs and recycling old ones into planters where they'll have a forever home.
Justin Cox started Ol' Dirty Planters as a way to address the sustainability issues surrounding synthetic rubber, while finding a way to get more people into plants that typically wouldn't own them. So he fused his passion for Wutang, community and basketball with his love for plants. The result is a community-based, Black-owned, sustainable business that connects basketball culture to horticulture in the coolest way possible.
